Professor of Economics at George Washington University, conservative Walter E. Williams was a great intellectual and economist who wrote in defense of the free market system, condemning socialism and tyranny –
Prior to capitalism, the way people amassed great wealth was by looting, plundering and enslaving their fellow man. Capitalism made it possible to become wealthy by serving your fellow man.Walter E. Williams
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) recently introduced a bill which asserts America was founded on July, 4, 1776, when its fundamental principles were established in the Declaration of Independence, and prohibits the use of federal funds for teaching that America was founded on slavery:
The New York Times’s 1619 Project is a racially divisive, revisionist account of history that denies the noble principles of freedom and equality on which our nation was founded. Not a single cent of federal funding should go to indoctrinate young Americans with this left-wing garbage.Sen. Tom Cotton
Pursuant to recent instances of mass shootings, people have naturally exhibited sadness and sympathy. Many have also, as historically expected, engaged in anti Second Amendment rhetoric. However, as Rush Limbaugh noted:
There isn’t a thing they can do regarding gun legislation that would stop these shootings, because it’s not gun legislation that is responsible for it. The one thing none of this ever takes into account — you can ban guns left and right. You can take guns away from the law-abiding all day. People who intend, who have made up their minds to use guns in a criminal way are going to find them. They are, by definition, criminals.
Violent crime happens everyday, especially in cities such as Chicago – the Murder Capital of America. Fatherless homes without an authority figure, alcohol and drug abuse, the societal devaluation of human life propagated through legalized abortion, violence in the theater and video games at home…etc.
Everybody just wants to think we’re doing something about it, “even if it doesn’t matter, we want to do something.” Because of the psychological need to do something.
The problem isn’t guns, knives, or other implements from which to do harm; it is a fundamental disrespect for the intrinsic value of human life, and a failure to effectively elevate morality in the hearts and minds of American youth.
