The Problem With “Do Something”

The problem of alienated, often fatherless young men espousing either hateful extremism or nihilistic meaninglessness who aim their anger and violence at the defenseless … that’s not government caused, and it can’t be government fixed.

Those tasks belong to the very institutions that have been dismissed and even dismantled across our society: The family and the Church.

Rush Limbaugh Quote

Pursuant to recent instances of mass shootings, people have naturally exhibited sadness and sympathy. Many have also, as historically expected, engaged in anti Second Amendment rhetoric. However, as Rush Limbaugh noted:

There isn’t a thing they can do regarding gun legislation that would stop these shootings, because it’s not gun legislation that is responsible for it. The one thing none of this ever takes into account — you can ban guns left and right. You can take guns away from the law-abiding all day. People who intend, who have made up their minds to use guns in a criminal way are going to find them. They are, by definition, criminals.

Violent crime happens everyday, especially in cities such as Chicago – the Murder Capital of America. Fatherless homes without an authority figure, alcohol and drug abuse, the societal devaluation of human life propagated through legalized abortion, violence in the theater and video games at home…etc.

Everybody just wants to think we’re doing something about it, “even if it doesn’t matter, we want to do something.” Because of the psychological need to do something.

The problem isn’t guns, knives, or other implements from which to do harm; it is a fundamental disrespect for the intrinsic value of human life, and a failure to effectively elevate morality in the hearts and minds of American youth.

Second Amendment

Evil, criminals, mental illness, hate, drug addiction, etc.. There are countless reasons for gun-related deaths, yet all have one element in common: guns don’t kill people – people kill people. According to democrats, however, President Trump and/or his rhetoric are to blame for mass shootings.

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

It’s no accident that the liberal media – an appendage of the democrat party – never directed such accusation of culpability toward President Obama, despite 32 mass shootings which occurred during his administration.

Disintegration of the nuclear family, homes without discipline, schools without prayer, courtrooms without justice, class warfare, media organizations demonizing police officers, video games and cinema glorifying murder, a youtube culture of sensationalism, etc.. There are countless reasons for gun-related deaths, yet all have one element in common: guns don’t kill people – people kill people.

Meanwhile, politicians push for open borders, espousing an escalation of lawlessness while campaigning that citizens should be expected to pay for the free health care of illegal aliens. Diseases nearly eradicated (tuberculosis, measles, whooping cough, mumps, scarlet fever, bubonic plague) are now making a comeback, as liberal-run cities continue to descend into chaos.

Overseas, where gun ownership has been supplanted by “gun control”, innocent people are often either wounded or murdered by assailants with knives, as gun-less passersby struggle to intervene for fear of reprisal. Back at the ranch, left-wing sponsored hate groups – ANTIFA, Black Lives Matter, etc. – engage in politically motivated mob violence and destruction of private property. And, increasingly, liberals are doxing conservatives to facilitate public unrest.

As democrats – and, spineless republicans – continue to sensationalize mass shootings as a vehicle through which to attack our Second Amendment rights, as enshrined in the United States Constitution, we must remain vigilant! There are countless reasons for gun-related deaths, yet all have one element in common: guns don’t kill people – people kill people.

Charlton Heston On The Second Amendment

On February 11, 1997, Charlton Heston, actor and then Vice President of the National Rifle Association, spoke at the National Press Club and explained that the Second Amendment must be considered more essential than the First Amendment; that it is the first freedom that defends the rest of our liberties.

Support Your Local Law Enforcement

Whether from the president or throwback activists of the 1960’s, people need to be aware of false narratives driving propaganda through news to promote social change; in particular, the perpetuation of class warfare through racial unrest as a means to garner greater control, and diminish your right to keep and bear arms.

Presently, the left is demonizing police departments by suggesting that cops are killing inner city minorities at an alarming rate. Their mantras, that racism is running rampant, and we need more gun control laws, ring empty, however, when one considers the facts: in large cities with strict regulations on guns (e.g., Chicago), already over 300 people have died from gunshot wounds this year, and it is predominantly blacks killing other blacks.

In an effort to dispel such an irrational perception proffered through media sensationalism, that police officers are wantonly using their guns with reckless abandon, the 2014 New York City Annual Firearms Discharge Report provides some clarity:

  • The NYPD responded to 4.8 million radio calls in 2014, of which nearly 67,000 involved weapons. Police officers made nearly 5000 arrests where a firearm was involved. Therein, 14 subjects were shot and injured and only eight subjects were shot and killed. This is near an historically low level in recent decades.

Racism? More gun control laws? Propaganda.
